Werewolf's & Black Poppies

Chictopia and Lookbook have become online bibles for me, subtly indicating by way of hypes and hearts whether an outfit I sport is good or not. It means that hopefully I wont leave the house from now on in something questionable. I'm a fan of sparkles and eclectic things, but according to the websites I mentioned, a simple chic blazer with jeans is the way to make a mark these days. I just hope the curly locks dont start to overshadow the looks. But anyway, the fashion life online pleases my nights, and keeps me occupied until the weekend arrives. Speaking of which, I'm off to bed now, thoroughly looking forward to a day with my dearest friend Constance. We're going to laze in the sunshine on the top of the hills, reading tea stained books from the charity shop and dressing up in glorious frocks. No doubt some pictures will come. Hope everyone else is well. x

The Wonky Side Of Life

I forgot to mention the extra curricular activity that took place at the weekend. Music has always been a staple sound in my life, and even though my genre choices have been debatable in the past, I usually consider myself as having a good ear for what’s new and attractive on the dancefloor. So I put my calling to use, with a 2 hour DJ set at ‘Wonky’ in Bristol. It’s billed as a club ‘for homos who hate hard house’, attracting an array of different sort of people with backgrounds all contrasting, but not conflicting in the slightest. Albeit a bit wobbly at the start, I soon became one with Wonky, playing songs that tickled the tap shoes of the dancers below. Girls Aloud, followed by Patrick Wolf, moving swiftly on to Ladytron. And the mixtape went on!

Battle Of The Designers

In the recent edition of French Vogue, there's page after page of designer's staple looks of the moment, glorified by some of the fiercest models that strut us by. Daria Werbowy personifies wild youth in Burberry, with her hair branched out into the funky slouched clothes. Natasha Poly brings Louis Vuitton to life with a fabulously awkward pose that puts emphasise on the striking heels that we'd all step out of the way in fear and admiration of. I'm a bohemian romantic for Missoni, with ethnic colours and attention to detail that always knits a special place in my heart. Anja shows how Versace is the queen of the high fashion dancefloor, with sparkling electric colours and high degrees of sex appeal. John Galliano is the king of quirky, always rivalling Alexander McQueen's concepts, both in his collections and runway concepts. And finally, I love Nina Ricci's 'Alice In Wonderland' fantasy that comes with her indulgent red dress. To summarise, I always find it near to impossible to decide which designer my fashion heart belongs to...! I guess I'll just have to fall in love with them all.

Tiger Mountain Peasant

I usually save all of my best clothes and looks for the evenings when me and my friends hit the bars to drink and play. But recently I’ve tried to change the casual tramp style that would colour code my day. So while I might not wear sequins and eclectic designs in the afternoon, I like to think I’m starting to dress more presentably for the neighbours & co

Mystery & Minimalism

While I usually like more dramatic and daring concepts on the runway, I can't help but fall in love with Chanel's classical 2009 Couture collection. It's laced with elegance and all that's expected from Karl Lagerfeld. As he was quoted saying, 'what could be more mythical than a Chanel jacket and Number 5 perfume?' And I couldn't agree more. Pure and innocent white silhouettes are mirrored with veiled faces, with material embroidered and enriched in crystals. The light dresses drape down so mysteriously that they almost vanish and become shadows. Even the black outfits retain the staple Chanel concept, with sharp white crystals piercing through underneath. The makeup and styling serves as an extension of the clothes, with the hair gloriously swirling and melting into the garments, making the model a real part of the collection.

Rebel Prince

I mentioned a Toni & Guy shoot I did many moons ago. And I've finally received a few of the photos which excited me like a kid at christmas. I wish my hair could be so delicately wind swept and sophisticated as this more regularly. Bed hair doesn't quite compare. Many thanks to the talented stylists Simon Cook and Jim Shaw for creating this scene

Living Online

So I've been back in The Shire for almost a month now, and a job is still without me. It's quite a surreal existence not having a student loan anymore. I find myself contemplating walking 5 miles to friends' houses, and even drinking tap water at the local pub quiz. But thankfully my time online has been a littler richer and extravagant. I'm currently writing a piece on Hungarian designer Dora Mojzes for Prim Magazine. She's a gothic couture queen, and I'm enjoying the dark fantasy that her clothes have to offer. I'll be sure to post the published item when it hits shops next month. But I do tell a lie, as there was one occassion recently where I scurried up some money to go out and dance around. My prima donna of fashion, Connie Phillips, turned 22 yesterday, and we hired out 'The Woods' in Bristol for such a doo. I wore my John Galliano top with ultimate pride for the first time, with Connie adopting a grungy chic feel.

Where The Wild Things Are

My dear friend Finn is known for hosting lavish social occasions, crowded with vintage attire, fairytale wallpaper and pimms to drink. Last night was no exception. ‘Where The Wild Things are’ was the theme, and the living room went ‘inside out’. Everlasting trees spiralled towards the ceiling, with fairy lights draped all around us. Everyone dressed in dapper clothes and we courted into the early hours

Links To Befriend

Accompanying fashion and music is another important thing in my life; friends. Luckily these friends I speak of tick the boxes in the fashion and musical lifestyles. Connie is responsible for sparking a love of clothes and style in me. She’s a freelance photographer that styles vintage gems for people to buy online. Her blog is full of inspiration and eclectic wear, so take a look at once. And in the musical swing of things, my close friends of the guy variety are in a folk band called Zen Elephant. Imagine Bob Dylan mixed with modern sounds and bohemian styles, and you have a soundtrack worthy for summer days. Below are some links I think you should befriend too

Bringing Back The Levis

For months this vintage levis jumper had been demoted to the back of my wardrobe. I bought it on ebay and was a lot smaller than expected. But thanks to some styling advice from my beautiful friend Constance, I layered it over an oversized Zara tee for what's hopefully a juxtaposed casual look. I'll be wearing this out and about today as I hunt down a job to eventually bring me back to London

The Blossom Of Bottega

The weather outside is beginning to shine, and Summer has made it’s fashionably late presence. So what better way to start the day than taking a look at Bottega Veneta’s 2009 current collection. I love how the thick indulgent leather retains a light shimmer and feel. The galaxy browns and sunset oranges are a palette fit for a bohemian lifestyle, and the light ruffles and crisp dresses stencil this effortless yet chic concept

Sequins, Skyscrapers, And Galliano To Come

When a parcel arrives with a new top I've been twiddling my thumbs waiting for, I usually run to my friend Connie's and take a pose by her wall, to document the clothes arrival into my life in short. Call it a fashion christening perhaps. I'm thoroughly addicted to a site called 'Lookbook', a community of fashion enthusiasts who upload their outfit avenues, so these snaps of mine usually find a second home on there.

As a tease, I'll tell you that my first ever John Galliano top arrived in the post today! It's going to change my life forever I sware. Photos will be taken of me wearing it at the weekend, but until then, here's a 'lookbook' post of a previous top that tickled my fancy. It's from Jaques Vert, and is sprinkled with glitter and intricacy. Hope you like it

Folklore

Last night we sprinkled tea lights at the end of the garden, hung lanterns by the wishing tree, and carpeted the grass with bohemian fabrics. With lots of wine, a bongo drum, a kiddie's picnic and fabulous friends, The Shire was a mystic garden last night.

The photos also give me the opportunity to present my new hair doo. At first it was potentially tragic, with the shaved edge looking like something Britney would do. But thanks to some styling from Connie, it's now a little more presentable
